A bit of this and that~

Hi friends~
Your visit is Very Much Appreciated!!
I hope all is well for you?  Are your days warming? (or is it snowing yet! : )  [Our friends in Australia are heading into their Autumn and Winter seasons.]   We are warm and a bit rainy in Montana; but I love to look out my apartment window and see the lush green grass! (rather than mountains of snow : )
I have just a few cards & whatnot to share with you today.

A birthday card for one of my dear sisters-in-law.  I made a copy of a vintage photo.  This is her (& my late husbands)  Poppy - [top left.]
Simple, quick and easy card using some My Minds Eye papers; layered and edges inked. The 'paper-clip' looking cut out is from an old die.  I stamped the tag with a fun sentiment and bike. Twine for good measure! : )
This is quite the vintage shot, isn't it : )
Look at that poor skinny boy next to Poppy!  He should share that candy bar!

Next is a small tag I made from a piece of recycled Prima packaging~
When I fell in love with scrapbooking/card making it was both vintage And shabby-chic that made my heart race!
A little 'ticket' under the bow. A small piece of Kaisercraft brand 'sewing' paper.
The stitching was already on the tag (I think some resin pieces came on this?)
I 'fussy-cut' some small flower clusters from pattered paper and loosely attached.

The last one is a simple 'envelope-style' card made quickly! I needed a Thank You for two special friends~
This (env. style) idea was shared a few years ago on a blog (no longer active) -  I really liked the look!
I like to use postal stamping~
This envelope style is so simple, but I think it dresses up the look of a card so pretty~
Thank you sooo much for peeking in!
The warmer weather has brought on baseball and soccer; and so I've been busy enjoying my grandkids games.
Wishing you a blessed week-end~
Hugs,
Karen

  2. oh Karen I so enjoy your creations, I just love your style and the vintage shabby chic is my favorite too, Your sister in law is going to just love the card you made for her, so special, love the tags and clips you used. Your tag is just gorgeous, wonderful way to dress that up and upcycle it! Love those flowers with the old fashion sewing machine. Love your envelope card as well, such pretty papers and I so love the way you combine your ribbons together.
So glad it has warmed up for you and is getting green, how wonderful to be close enough to enjoy your grandkids games!

  3. Lovely things today - the first card makes me so happy. There's something about that carefree photo - full of nostalgia for youth and a sense of mischief - combined with the bright and breezy layers all at jaunty angles, which just works so perfectly. Love the tag too. I keep all sorts of crafty packaging, but often forget to get it out to play with. This one is charming - shabby chic is a definite pleasure for me too. And the envelope card is really pretty - that punched border brings it all to life delightfully. Hope you are enjoying a gently joyful weekend.

  6. Hi Karen, It's so good to see you creating! I love your style. That vintage sewing machine is so beautiful! The roses on the envelope are magnificent and really make it so special. I love vintage and shabby chic too. What characters in those vintage boys. Larrikins, I think! You've achieved very different looks in your pieces, all wonderfully put together!
    Sending you hugs,

  7. What a lovely post Karen! I'm sorry I couldn't visit sooner (been a bit sick, but getting better now) but I adore the pieces you've shared here. The first card is so gorgeous and I love that happy vintage photo. You can see a bit of mischief brewing behind those smiling faces! LOL!! Love the tag .. so charming with the sewing elements and pretty ribbons. Love the envelope card too! Such a sweet design (one I defininitely should keep in mind) and so beautiful!! Hope you are keeping well and that your weather is warming up. It's getting colder down here. It doesn't get cold enough for snow but certainly cold enough that it's nice to snuggle up in front of a fire. Take care my dear friend. hugs xx

sorry for being late , your creations are all so wonderful, and filled with special beauty , coming from your style, which I love.
They are so different but all so lovely in each their way . And the pink ones , you know by now,- are my favorites , in their shabby way . Wonderful papers and details and that old photo is wonderful. I did not fully understand if one of them is your husband ?
Dear friend, here it is almost too warm, these days, but changing all the time , so never knows what the next days brings !!

Thank you Dorthe for your encouragement and support! I appreciate you so very much~
The young man in the picture (with the candy bar in his hand) was my late-husbands grandfather; they called him 'Poppy'. I enjoy using old family photo's when I can~ : ) Hugs and I'll message you soon! Karen

  9. Oh my goodness, these are all just beautiful! I've been loving seeing your shabby art, dear friend! My heart still skips a beat for anything shabby chic...even though I've moved away from that style a tad over the years. I still have a biiiiiig box of goodies I hope to return to one day and make a pile of frilly, distressed projects. Your art is always an inspiration - I may be digging into that box sooner than I think! ;) xoxo

  10. Hi Karen, thought I would do a last minute check before a well over due bedtime to see if you had posted anything as my blogger feed can play hide and seek at times and as I had been on my holibobs hee hee!!
What a lovely photograph, like three rebels without a cause. I wonder if he did share that candy bar? I bet your SIL was over the moon with it. I have to admit I am a demon for shaving packaging especially tags. You have given yours new life, a beautiful transformation and the Thank you card is a very pretty design. One of those all occasion layouts that I love.
So nice to see you back crafting. I've yet to get back into the swing of it, hoping to return to normality very soon.
    Hugs Tracey xx
