Happy May! (& thinking Neutrals)

Hello to my dear friends in Blogland! Yes, I'm still around ; ) and am able to visit around about once a week~  I am seeing beautiful work!  and always lots of inspiration.   May is now here and with it - - -well,   c h i l l y weather!
: )  It has warmed up here in Montana' USA and I'm thankful.  But it is still very chilly and even below freezing for some of our overnight forecasts~  Lots of green though!  so I am very pleased <3
Come the first part of every month I start thinking "Neutrals," in anticipation of Wen's Simply Neutrals Tuesday blog parties! And although she is taking a well deserved break from that for the time being - my heart just naturally goes there : )
Can you handle yet another 'blast from the past'  from my archives!?!?  I hope so!
I am truly working on a few things I hope to post soon - but for now let me share this small journal cover from a while ago~
Pressed board covered with a vintage hankie; on the left is a strip of muslin, pleated & stitched.
Then from the bottom to the top I layered a gazillion things! including laces, vintage buttons, corrugated board, white burlap, fussy-cut flowers (for a sort of 'arbor' effect)  and some white felt die-cut hearts sizzix-bigz-die-hearts-primitive- topped with a piece of wedding lace~
(I believe I've used that heart die far more than any other die I own.)
I know, I know, I shared this not too long ago at one of the Simply Neutrals Party's  : /  but I beg your forgiveness! while I wait patiently for new creativity~
Hugs to you all!  I hope to visit you very soon.
Weekends seem to be my best time to 'get out there' and do some blog visiting <3
And so I wish you a wonderful weekend ahead!  and many blessings too.
Loving hugs,
Karen

  1. I could handle these posts each and every day Karen a marvellous reshare and to me it does not matter if it's seen or unseen previously by my eyes there is always something to enjoy over and over again. I really do love those layers as each one holds it's own history with colour tones that marry and blend so well with each other. I could honestly sit and look at this all day long but as usual I am chasing my tail.
I hope you are keeping well and finding time for creativity? Even if it is just thoughts of projects of future makes I find creative daydreaming keeps me sane! Take good care of yourself Karen and I will catch up with you very soon in blogland.
    Big Hugs Tracey xx
P.S I'm not sure if my comment about the *Cracker Prize* was ever logged or answered but in the UK at Christmas we have *Christmas Crackers* on our festive food table that contain a little prize, silly paper hat and usually an awful joke. The crackers are pulled apart to get to the prize etc. It was brought to my attention recently that not everyone in the world has these at their table, I must try and remember these things so my blogging universal friends understand what I am rambling on about hee hee!! xx

  2. Oh Karen - I so adore your wonderful cover -- you are such an inspiration to me with this special layering of amazin old and trimmed to old fabrics and things --- such a pleasure always! I am not patient enough with my scraps of fabric, but I should give it a try for sure! We have nearly the same weather here. Some warm days already but again to colder temperatures and rain again now in the northern part where I love in our little land of Austria! But nature needs water - so we have to be happy with it!
Enjoy your May and take good care of you!

We have had warmer weather but very rainy, there is a lot of flooding around us, thankfully we haven't had to deal with that in our neighborhood. Hope things warm up for you soon!

  4. So good to visit with you Karen.
Your creative hand always amaze me, such beauty.

Spring is making its appearance slowly this year.
Our snow banks around the property are slowly melting because our temps are just not very warm.
I have been working in the yard, but it has been on cold rainy days.
Soon enough we will be enjoying the flowers, green grass and buds on the trees.

    Enjoy your weekend~

Love all the different fabrics on the cover and the corrugated board is a wonderful contrast. The neutral colour palette is gorgeous nd I love that you printed the title on pieces of fabric too .. such a lovely idea!
Well, our weather has finally changed. We had no decent rain since before Christmas but this past week it has been raining on and off and our garden heaved a great sigh of relief. Our farmers got the rain too which is such a Blessing for them. We do have sunshine at the moment but it is quite chilly so, I guess, Autumn has finally arrived!! Yayy!! No more heat waves, I hope!! Keep well dear friend and have a fabulous week!! hugs xx
