Sorta grungy vintage-style Thank You card~

Hi friends and welcome!!!
Are things warming up your way?  (Unless you are near my Australian friends who are starting their Autumn? season soon I believe.)
We are having the 'A typical' Spring rain weather here in MT.  And still very chilly at night!
I'm glad for the rain though - it will make a beautiful difference in the landscape~

I'm just taking a minute to share a card I made many moons ago : )

I used some older 'My Minds Eye' papers, (from their "Lost & Found" collection.) and they are still in my 'favorites' pile today; though not much is available anymore.
I have always tried to make my flowers by hand - and use the project papers to coordinate.
These colors work so well together, don't you think? : )
The bit of sheet music is vintage.  My father gave me a box full!  It's fun to insert it here & there.
The large and the small button are from 'Grandma's jar'.  I think the background striped paper may be Graphic 45 Studios  from the "School Days" collection.
Lots of texture and pattern going on!  And thank you Mr. T. Holtz for the great distress inks!  I believe I used 'Vintage Photo' on the edges of the flowers. https://timholtz.com/prod_cat/distress-inks/

And speaking about vintage sheet music! here are a couple photo's of my dad (just for grins) still playing music at 85.
Through his life he has played 7 different instruments; and very well at that.  His piano playing was  professional level for many years - and as a child I remember he would put us to sleep at night with the classics; my favorite being Bach! : )
Wishing you a wonderful week-end!
And many blessings ahead~  Loving hugs,   Karen

  2. Dearest Karen, the photos of your dad make me smile :) I'm also brought up surrounded by classical music, played by my grandmother. She played all kinds of flutes and the harpsichord. She taught me how to play all kinds of flutes as well, she was a music teacher. Sweet memories :)
Your card is so so gorgeous!! There are so many things I love about it! The beautiful flowers and papers, the harmonious colours, the way you layered everything, so gorgeous!
Sending you big hugs and love, xx

  3. Hi Karen! Nice to hear that your weather is getting warmer. As you said, down under, we are supposed to be heading into cooler weather as it is Autumn but, we are still getting temps in the 30s (centigrade, that is) Our nights are getting quite cool but the days are unseasonably warm still, and we are getting desperate for rain. Hoping that will come our way soon.
Your card is stunning. I love the handmade flowers and the colours are a gorgeous blend. Loving the printed papers too .. adds such a lovely vintage touch. Have a wonderful weekend!! hugs xx

  4. Dear Karen,
it is such a lovely card! Our weather is the same. Warmer days but cold nights. We even had some snow in between again. Soon everything should be green and blooming again.
    Hugs,
    Karen B.

  5. Dearest Karen, I love your card , with the beautiful papers used to create the lovely flowers.
The background paper with the yellow flowers makes a wonderful effect- did you stamp the flowers there , or is it born like that ?
It must be wonderful to have old music papers from your father, some he maybe even used himself. He looks such a kind and sweet man- such great photos. I hope your Easter week starts beautifully, and that you are doing good.
I`m home after my second thyroid scan , and will soon pm you .
Hugs and love from Dorthe xx

  7. Lovely to get another glimpse into the past - this is an absolutely charming card. I love the delicate duck egg colours of the flowers, and the lovely dimension of that furled paper to reveal the charred and distressed music manuscript behind. Vintage loveliness - and a big cheer for your dad still enjoying his music too.

  8. Oh, and yes the embossing powder does give a raised surface to the stamped lettering - it's one of the reasons I love embossing my quotes. Some powders are better than others at giving you that slight touch of dimension and texture - but if they're too chunky, then the delicate lettering becomes harder to read... it's trial and error mostly!
