waiting for April

Hello friends! I hope you are doing well?
There IS a small art project below-    but I did want to share so pics of my surroundings : )
We in the north-west corner of Montana are covered in a thick blanket of snow~
The rural area's near my home city of Kalispell are piled high with this cold white stuff!

The shopping centers are inundated with small mountains of fresh-plowed snow.  There is just no where to put it!
From my apartment window~  (no hint for you that there are mountains in the distance)
I am acclimatizing (did I say that right?) slowly; and learning to love the beauty of living in Montana~   My family won't believe I said that!  But what truly makes living here extra special is being so close to my daughter and all the grandkids : ) <3  I am blessed.

My mojo/creativity is still not happy with me.  As if I'm trying to wake it out of hibernation!  "Nooo, it's only February, let me sleep . . ."  Alas, I get some bits and pieces : )  and am just going with the flow right now.
Here's a little hanging tag I made; just trying to keep busy at the craft table.  A bit rustic and grungy; not too bad.  *smile*

Using some pressed and mulberry(?) paper, corrugated board, chipboard grasses painted with T Holtz Twisted Citron distress ink.http://timholtz.com/new-distress-twisted-citron/  The bird is T Holtz tissue paper (reinforced w/a cardstock back).  The branch above her head was cut with a Memory Box die http://www.memoryboxco.com/98187-Woodland-Branch-craft-dies_p_91.html  and painted with a few layers of Tattered Angels http://www.mytatteredangels.com/paint/starter-kits/  "Weathered Wood" sprays.  I added some Prills [search Amazon]  for dirt around the grass; mixing in some glitter too.
I simply stamped the letters and cut them out individually; inking the edges. [always forgetting about that! but I remembered this time friend~]

Yes, I am waiting for April - I cannot lie~  But learning to enjoy what the weather holds for me today, no matter what.  And not be (too) afraid to get out in it as well!  : )
Wishing you a great rest of your week, and a wonderful week-end coming soon!
I'll be traveling with some of my grandchildren.  A 4 hour trek through some of the Rocky Mountains;  taking them to their other Gram for an extended visit.     Then I'll be on an Amtrak coming home.  How beautiful that will be~
Loving hugs,
Karen

  1. My oh my, just look at that snow! It is certainly beautiful, but about this time I, too, start to look forward to Spring. We have been enjoying warmer days here in the mountains and our snow is melting, but we are supposed to get snow tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday.

Your tag is simply beautiful, my friend. How I love your creations. Hugs to you!

  3. Hi Karen! Oh how I would love to be able to dive into all that fabulous snow!! Might sound odd to you but we have been going through a prolonged heatwave down here in South Aus. More than a week with temps over 35c. Yesterday and today we reached 41c I believe that's about 104 or so in fahrenheit. All I know is, it's darn HOT!! It's supposedto be a bit cooler tomorrow .. I certainly hope so!
Your tag is stunning! I adore the lovely little scene you have created. The corrugated board is the perfect background and I also love the addition of the prills (one of my fave embellies, as you know) Truly gorgeous!!
Have a wonderful weekend my dear. hugs xx

  4. Dear Karen, I can truly see, that when you write : lots of snow,- it is a very big lots of snow, in your surroundings, beautiful, but maybe too much , I can imagine it is thawing very slowly !!
I love your tag, it is so very beautiful, with the paper-layers and the corrugated cardboard on top - The bird is so lovely sitting there, with the die-cut branch over its head, also happy that we at least now, have reached March . The grasses surrounded by the Prills , is a gorgeous detail, and the words are simply perfect there !!
I hope your tour will be filled with happy fun with the kids, and peaceful joy when returning home alone !! Hugs to you dear friend.

    1. Hello dear Dorthe~
Yes, it does take the snow many weeks to melt; once the temperatures start warming for summer. But it will bring all the "sleeping" plants to life as it soaks into the ground! : )
I appreciate your supporting words and comments always Dorthe! Thank you for stopping in to my blog friend~ Have a nice week ahead. I hope to share my train trip on my blog soon. Hugs, Karen

  5. Oh Boy Karen, all the salt in the world would not melt that mountain of snow. I hope your weekend travelling has been safe (I am a little late arriving.) So lovely to be near your Daughter & Grandchildren. Your waiting for April piece is beautiful with your layers and added extras. It can be so overwhelming when our mojo is held back but hang in there sweet Karen for it will return in full swing and we will be here ready to embrace it all with open arms.
Take good care of yourself and I hope the sun soon shows it's warmth.
    Big Hugs Tracey xx

  8. Good grief, that is a lot of snow! We've had a few inches a couple of times so far here in NYC, but apart from the piles of cleared snow on the sides of the roads, it's usually pretty much all gone a couple of days later. I do enjoy the bright blue skies when they appear, however cold it gets!

As to your mojo, I think it popped out of hibernation to serve you extremely well on your hanging tag - it's utterly lovely. I love the corrugated texture, and the twigs drawing the eye in a zigzag across the tag. The bird is, of course, enchanting, and I love the green shoots poking out of the soil. I'm mostly in the thick of theatre rehearsals so not much time for anything else, but I'm just about getting some crafting and/or watercolouring time in. Not so much with the blogging, though I'm doing my best!

  9. You are such a peach to stop in and comment Alison : ) Thanks for the visit~ I would love to be again in NYC! The vibe alone is so energizing! I may have mentioned, but when I was there it was right at this time of year EOFeb/early Mar. And while it was very cold out - we hardly noticed *smile* Enjoy!~ Karen

  10. Wow, wow, wow!!! Karen, I cannot believe you created this stunning tag with a not-so-cooperative-mojo! It's absolutely, incredibly beautiful and inspiring!! I stared it at for a good while, admiring all of your loving touches...Everything about this tag makes me smile and want to get into my craft room. Thank you for inspiring me, and thank you for sharing a little bit bout the Wintery surroundings - it makes me feel not so alone in the mountains of snow! We truly do not know where to shovel it anymore! lol This has been one of our coldest winters on record, and I am eagerly awaiting Spring :) Sending you the biggest hugs sweet friend, so happy you are near those you love! xoxo
