2nd time around~ & Please follow on Bloglovin!

Hi friends~  I hope all is well for you?  I'm doing pretty well, despite the 'deep-freeze' that has settled down upon us here in north-west Montana, USA.  Near freezing and below for several days/nights.
Even next week we will have <minus> over-night temperatures! Brrrrrr!

Please know that Google+ will be gone soon!! and so I've added a button:
 "Follow me with Bloglovin"
near the top right on my blog - if you would care to follow that way  <3
I am pretty I.T.  illiterate! and don't understand what exactly will happen in April; but I hope to get better informed - so I don't loose my following at your place!  I enjoy Every blog I follow, and don't want to miss anything because I can't find you!~

I wanted to tell you, I have grown to love   Our monthly link up party  Simply Neutrals Tuesday at Wens' blog every month,

And so  - - I had to reach back into my past and find a "neutral"  to enter!
My creating has been so - - limited lately, and I did not have the time or mojo to get something new ready for today~  : /
                  "It's A Good Day"
This is one of the  . . .grungiest! cards I've ever made, and it happens to be one of my very favorites as well~  A birthday card for my nephew.
I know Wendy is flexible about adding bits of color, so I'm hoping she will accept this for submission : )
I used:  Lots of layers of kraft cardstock, Kraft patterned paper, Burlap, twine, stamping words and postage, metal 'screw' brads - and the colorful bird w/music is actually from some (Prima?) packaging~
There's lots of  washi tape too, and if you can see him, the little bird resting on the "fun day" sign? he was die cut from some paper that was covered in pieces of washi.

So, there it is for me today.  : )  I hope you have a blessed week-end ahead!  And happy crafting time too~
Hugs to all.
Karen

  1. Hello, Karen, It's lovely to see you back in Simply Neutrals Tuesday. I love the spark of red your bird brings to this composition. My entry broke the neutral tone rule a bit too, in aqua, but I think Wen is flexible. I like how you used the washi tape to create the bird shape. What gorgeous layering you have done here. I must try for more layers as it looks detailed and intriguing.

While you are freezing, Australia is sweltering under record-breaking hot temperatures. We are lucky along the coast here where a sea breeze counteracts the heat, but humidity is very high and we feel like candles melting. There are some towns out West where temperatures for January have been over 40 degrees Celcius for 21 days in a row, and the minimum temp has been as high as 36.6. I think these places will be uninhabitable before too long with climate change.
Stay cosy and warm, and I hope you will feel like creating soon, as it will lift your spirits. My doctor told me it was important to start, even when you don't feel like it, as finding something enjoyable and getting in 'the flow' helps mend broken hearts.
    Hugs,
    Jesse

    1. Oh Jesse! It is hard to fathom anyone sweltering in the heat when we are so freezing cold up here in the north! But I have no doubt; and wish for cooler days for all of you real soon! Thank you for the visit! and wishes for a good weekend for you~ Hugs, Karen

  2. Just delightful, Karen! This card brings me so much joy when I look at it. Oh how I love your shabby style and all the sweet little elements you add. That darling bird just takes it over the top for me! So, so sweet :) I think us Northerners are all experiencing this crazy polar vortex - it has been -40 here ALL week! (Which I think is the same in C and F) Last couple of days, windchill warnings of -50!!! I think it was record-setting. The one good thing about this, is more time for crafting! :) Hugs to you sweet friend, so happy to see your art and I hope your mojo comes bouncing back when it's ready! xoxo

    1. Thank you for the visit Ivana!! I appreciate you so much. I had a lot of fun creating this card
(way back when ...) and breaking lots of rules! LOL
It sounds CrAzY cold up there in SK.! I heard it was near the same extreme cold in eastern MT; which is right under you (south.) Yes, the temps do keep us home and indoors more, so we may as well create when we can : ) Hugs to you, Karen

  4. Good morning Karen, so lovely to have discovered this shared treasure today and one i'm grateful you shared. Just look at all those layers entangled with hidden washi along with those bits and bobs, it frames that beautiful bird so elegantly. Simply Neutrals is a beautiful place, I find it extremely calming.
I too am quite rubbish when it comes to technology, understand very little and do not think I can use bloglovin as I do not use FB. I am hoping that the G+ goodbyes will not effect my blog or swallow it up as I know no way to save it. I do not believe I used G+ to comment and within my settings my profile should direct people to blogger and not google+. It will break my heart if my work and friendships disappears.
Stay warm and safe dear Karen and may I say Thank you for your comments and kind words yesterday. Hoping for a peaceful week and some creative time this weekend. I wish you the very same.
    Warmest of Hugs Tracey xx

    1. Thank you for the visit Tracey!! I did enjoy creating that somewhat grungy, layer-y card : ) Well, I added the Bloglovin' in case something happened; and now I'm told it's not working on my blog any how! *sigh* I guess we can just hope that us 'not to I.T. savvy' ones won't 'disappear!!" Enjoy your day~ Hugs, Karen

  7. What a fun card Karen. Grunge is one of my favorite styles. I always have to go back and look a few times because you add so many delightful details. I like your stamped words and the mix of old and new papers that you used. I am very fond of inking the edges of pieces as well! When I get stuck on a card that I'm layering, I often look to your creations for inspiration as Iearning! I don't quite understand all that google is doing either. I hope that you're getting some relief in your weather. Thank you for your sweet visit to my and your comments aways brighten my day! I'm sorry I'm so slow to respond and appreciate you so much.

Stay warm! Love and hugs from AZ.

    1. Hello June! And thank you for peeking in and deciding to follow! Wow, you made my day! : ) So it's cold in the UK? Do you get much snow in your area? My dream has always been to visit there - even since I was a small girl. Perhaps one day!? Wishing you blessings in the week ahead~ Hugs, Karen

  10. I'm so happy you found this beauty from the past to share, even though you haven't been able to do much creating lately. I adore the grungy look of the earthy kraft card layers, and the great additional texture from the burlap and the twine. The little washi bird is like a ghostly shadow of the colourful robin - a lovely touch.

I think you should be okay with your regular Blogger Followers widget. As I understand it, that won't be going anywhere, it's only if you had set up a Google+ followers system that you would be affected. Sadly, we will all lose a certain number of comments on our blogs, if those comments were left by people using their Google+ ID rather than their Blogger/Google ID. There doesn't seem to be very much we can do except wait to see what the damage is when it happens. But there's no harm in having the Bloglovin back up too!

I may not have fully explained myself in terms of travel and rehearsals. It's my "day job" as a Shakespeare text and voice coach - https://www.alisonbomber.co.uk if you'd like to find out a bit more. I've just arrived in New York for a stay of around two months, working on a production of Julius Caesar with Theatre for a New Audience. It's my fourth or fifth show with them, so I feel pretty much at home these days. We're also wrapping up for a cold hit tonight and tomorrow, but it seems like it's not going to last very long. Stay warm in frozen Montana!

  11. Glad to hear from you Alison! I was thrilled to see you stopped in my blog and left a comment~ Thank you for the google info as well! *sigh* I get frustrated with all this - partly with myself for not understanding I.T. perhaps the way I should . . . but yes, we shall see~
Wow, thank you for sharing about your 'day job'! I hope I wasn't sounding nosy, truly just curious~ :) Sounds phenomenal! Enjoy your stay and I hope it's not all work. NYC is quite an amazing place. I've only spent about a week there (it was late Feb early March) but I fell in love with midtown Manhattan.
Have a wonderful week Alison~ [I will check out the link you left] Hugs, Karen

  13. I happen to love your grungy card too, Karen!!! Especially the pop of red on the bird!! Your little diecut washi tape bird is so cute too!! You do such great work!

I can sympathize with you on your cold weather! Our winter seemed to hit all at once this month. We were having a fairly mild one to start with and then we have been dumped with snow and some below 0 temps as well. To top it off I got sick with a bad cough and was unable to go out to my Craft Palace to play and then the bad weather hit when I started feeling good enough to. When it gets that cold my trailer won't warm up enough with the heater I have. I got to craft only 3 days out of 3 weeks. I went out a little bit ago to turn the heater up but I don't know if it will warm up enough or not. I hope all is well with you. I posted in your public comments page on sb.com asking you to PM me your address, if you don't mind. Sending hugs, Elizabeth

  14. Oh dear Elizabeth what a thrill to see you at my blog! Thank you for stopping in and sharing a comment~ I am not at SB.com too much, but I do think I saw that you had left a PM, and I sadly let it escape my thoughts to check those when I had time, please forgive - so very sorry! : ( I will do so right now. I've been feeling a bit stretched these days. Hope all is well? Bless your heart, the weather even effects your ability to scrap!? Hoping for your sake it warms up soon~ Hugs, Karen

  15. Dear Karen your submissin to SNT this month is surely full of life and so textural. I love all the different sorts of mediums you have used to create such a beautiful piece and the little red bird creates such a pop to it.
It certainly has been an incredibly chilling Winter over there for you - unusually so. I wonder if we need to prepare ourselves more for these weather changes???!!! The best you can do is stay in and create in the warmth of your cosy creative space.
I will follow you in Bloglovin. Have to resort that as haven't used it for simply ages.
I never felt good about Google+ so never went on board with it.
Sending you many loving and warm hugs,

  16. Your grungy collage is absolutely gorgeous, dear Karen! No worries about the bit of colour, it totally has a neutrals vibe :) Beautiful layering and textures you added. And such a great idea using the washi-tape like that! I'm happy to hear you love the monthly gatherings, Karen. It's such a lovely group of sweet people, I can't bear the thought of quitting it. Thank you so much for being a part of it and for your sweet comments and friendship! It means a lot to me. Sending you lots of love and big hugs, xx
